«Shake, Rattle and Roll» es una canción de Blues de doce compases en forma de rock and roll, escrita en 1954 por Jesse Stone bajo su seudónimo de compositor Charles E. Calhoun. Fue grabado originalmente por Big Joe Turner, y con más éxito de Bill Haley & His Comets. La canción cantada por Big Joe Turner está en el puesto n º 126 de la lista de las 500 mejores canciones de todos los tiempos de la revista Rolling Stone. Bill Haley decidió sustituir algunos pasajes de la letra por considerarlos demasiado " picantes " así al inicio cuando el original dice Sal de esa cama, lávate la cara y las manos : Get outta that bed , wash your face and hands se tranformó en ; sal de esa cocina y haz sonar esas ollas y cacerolas... como podéis ver y oir más abajo..... Sin embargo en otro de los pasajes en donde quizá se está más cerca del mal gusto , no los toca ni un ápice , así podemos oir ... Soy como un gato tuerto husmeando en un almacén de pescado ..... aún cuando el propio Bill aseguró en una entrevista , en mis temas procuramos evitar cualquier cosa que sea sugerente .
