RIC & THE DUKES

Sleazy Records sigue mostrando su apoyo al Rockabilly español, esta vez con EP de Ric & The Dukes. Por cierto que me resulta curioso que este disco sea de reciente aparición y que en cambio lleve la referencia SR-51, cuando la discográfica malagueña celebró su referencia 100 en el apartado de 7" a finales de 2015. En fin, no tiene más importancia que la meramente anecdótica y muy probablemente se deba a los insondables misterios del mundo de la edición discográfica.

Ric & The Dukes son una banda de Rockabilly de corte 50's formada en el sur de España (¡hay que ver cuántas y qué buenas bandas salen de aquellas tierras!) cuyos componentes son Ángel Arlandi (voz y guitarra rítmica), Carlos Jiménez (guitarra solista), Antonio Smiley (contrabajo) y Pedri Miranda (batería).

Lo que nos ofrecen en este disco es, precisamente, Rockabilly con sabor a años '50. En la cara A, con "Dirty Mouth" y "Don't Fight", el acento se pone en la parte "Rock" del término Rockabilly; mientras que en la cara B, con "Just Can't Wait" y "My Own Mistake", puede decirse que se refuerza la parte "Billy" de la palabra, especialmente con la canción que cierra el disco, aunque nunca perdiendo el "Rock" de vista.

Todos los temas, conviene resaltarlo, son de composición propia y, puestos a destacar uno, me quedaré con "Don't Fight", compuesto por Ángel Arlandi y Miguel A. Serrano (a quien los que ya empezamos a ser veteranos en esto del Rockabilly recordaremos de bandas como Mike Hillman & The Latin Hillbillies, donde también estaba Carlos Jiménez).
